The Yarlung Tsangpo River Lower Reach Hydropower Project officially commenced construction on July 19, 2025. As a super-scale engineering project of unprecedented global magnitude (with a total investment of approximately 1.2 trillion yuan and an installed capacity of 60 GW), it imposes extreme demands on construction materials under the complex geological conditions of the plateau. Prestressed steel strands have emerged as one of the key technological supports for the project. ‌ This product, with its high strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance, is widely applied in the core phases of the project to meet seismic resistance, pressure resistance, and long-term stability requirements. For example, non-adhesive galvanized steel strands have been applied in projects such as the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project. Through a dual-layer corrosion-resistant structure (such as galvanization treatment), corrosion resistance is enhanced to a service life of over 50 years, making it suitable for high-altitude environments with strong ultraviolet radiation and large temperature fluctuations.

‌PCCP pipe steel wire‌: Specifically designed for water supply pipelines, it is embedded in steel-reinforced concrete pipes to provide core compressive support. As the industry standard drafter, its products can withstand 235 atmospheres of pressure and have passed salt spray tests to verify their corrosion resistance.‌

‌Smart monitoring integration: Some steel wires are embedded with fiber optic grating sensors to enable real-time stress and strain monitoring (with over 90% accuracy), used for early warning of rock bursts and structural deformation.‌

Extreme Environment Adaptability: The product must meet reliability requirements in high-altitude environments (such as above 2,000 meters), seismic zones, and high-pressure environments. This is achieved through seismic-resistant design (e.g., withstanding a magnitude 9 earthquake) and corrosion-resistant reinforcement (double-layer structure) to ensure safety.

Large-Scale Demand: The project scale is equivalent to three times that of the Three Gorges Project, with an estimated steel strand usage exceeding 100,000 tons, driving the supply chain toward high-value-added directions such as 2400 MPa-grade high-strength steel strands.
